Hi, my name is Brett and I鈥檓 a graduate of the Math department at Princeton University. Beyond math, I am very interested in biology 鈥� especially virology and immunology 鈥� and am currently pursuing a PhD in Biology at Yale, developing mathematical tools to answer biological questions. Math is such a beautiful subject in itself, but I find it is especially exciting when you discover an unexpected application of an abstract math concept to another field. I love tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to share my passion and nurture a deeper understanding 鈥� and appreciation 鈥� of these subjects in students. One thing that I would like every tutee to understand is the importance of effective approaches in learning and doing math and the sciences. STEM fields are often portrayed as something that one either 鈥済ets鈥� or does not, but in reality it鈥檚 all a matter of learning how to ask the right questions and draw from appropriate knowledge and resources to tackle new problems 鈥� a skill that is especially important to develop, I have found, when preparing to transition from high school to college academic life.
